Historical Home Information
Maplehurst has an important place in Ontario's architectural history as a rare example of a Regency-style villa modeled after British and Irish country houses. Originally built by George Longley in the late 1820s around 1827, this spectacular historical home was noted for the elegant design and architecture and remarkable quality of construction. It is uncertain who was responsible for the original design however it is thought that either Thomas Rogers or Archibald Fraser from Kingston were involved.
