Greely
Embracing the rural setting and natural appeal, Greely has succeeded in attracting a good mix of new residents and young families. Surrounded by natural forests and farmland, Greely residents enjoy the more relaxed atmosphere of a rural setting while still enjoying the convenience of the City of Ottawa just short drive to the north. Unlike some of the larger more traditional suburban communities found closer to the city, Greely has much more of rural flavour with a small town feel.
Greely is essentially comprised of a series of neighboring subdivisions. Shadow Ridge, Sunset Lakes, Thunderbird Cove, South Village, Woodstream, Greely West, Orchard view, Stanley Park, Albion Sun Vista, Emerald Links, Orchard Estates, Faircrest Meadows, Lakeland Estates and Creekside Estates are all neighboring subdivisions to be found in the Greely area.
There are a wide variety of custom home builders in Greely who are continuing to build new homes throughout the area and additional developments are planned. Typically lot sizes in the area range between ½ acre to more than 2 acre estate lots with plenty of trees and wild life. There is no municipal sewer and water services in Greely so all homes have drilled wells and septic systems.
Greely has grown significantly in the last decade and today there are over 2,400 households in the immediate vicinity. The core of the village includes a mix of churches, a library and fire station, an assortment of small businesses and services. The area also offers three elementary schools to choose from including Castor Valley Elementary School, Greely Public School, and St. Mary's Catholic School. In addition, St. Mark's Catholic High School is just a short drive towards Manotick.
Area attractions include the 27 hole Emerald Links Golf Course, the Ultimate Sports Park as well as the Rideau Carleton Race Track Slots.
